The Federation of Progressive Women against Trafficking in Women for Sexual Exploitation
The Federation of Progressive Women, Federación de Mujeres Progresistas, is a non- governmental, non- profit organization created in Spain in 1987. The FMP is inscribed in the National Registry of Associations with the number 810. It is declared of public utility and submitted to external annual auditing. The FMP is constituted by Regional Federations, Provincial Federations and Associations of local character in the different Autonomous Communities in which Spain is politically organized. There are proceedings ongoing for associations of other countries to join the organization as well.
The FMP Mission is to detect and denounce situations of inequality and social injustice and, consequently, develop programs and actions to improve the life conditions of women. It is our goal to obtain equal rights for women and men at all levels and in all areas of both, social and private life, by means of fostering gender equality public policies and affirmative action measures in order to promote a freer and more united society.
The FMP, in harmony with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, advocates for the achievement of equality between men and women as well as the advancement and empowerment of women, as a human rights question and an indispensable condition for the achievement of social, political, economic, cultural and ecological justice between all people.
